Young Males and Black Boxes

New research shows that young male drivers are spending almost a fifth of their annual income on car insurance. The average income for 18-21 year olds is £13,972, and with them spending around £2,499 annually on car insurance, it takes 18% of their income. It has been suggested to put "black boxes" in vehicles to help with young drivers and thereby hopefully gain a reduction in insurance premiums. These boxes would monitor the driving behaviour such as speed, acceleration, braking and cornering to offer discounts on insurance for safer drivers.
