Another Successful Work Experience Placement!

When enjoying yourself there is a saying ‘time flies when you’re having fun’ and my time certainly has flown by this week. I don’t know where to start to say thank you to everyone at M23Law / HS&Co. You have all given me a truly amazing experience and I’ve learnt so much in a week. I’ve been captivated throughout the week by the work you do and how hard you all work. I came into this week not knowing what to expect and not knowing much or anything about criminal or motoring law. But as time has passed I now understand an aspect of the life when working as a solicitor. This experience has motivated me to proceed with law as my career choice and I will be coming back often, to update everyone on how I am doing. I cannot wait to learn more and one day hopefully I am able to sit in the position that you sit. Once again I would like to say a big thank you to everyone at M23Law / HS&Co. You have definitely made my work experience a memorable one. Y – Sussex Student July 2012

Driver Jailed After Killing a Pedestrian Whilst Travelling More Than Double the Speed Limit

Arthur MacVean was found guilty of causing the death of 26-year-old David Young in June 2010, after travelling over 60mph in a 30mph zone. In the trial he stated that the car had a “mind of its own” and although he tried to slow the car down, it kept going faster. Mechanics who examined the car found nothing wrong with it. The judge agreed with the defence QC that there was “no satisfactory explanation for the offence” and MacVean was jailed for four and a half years and banned from driving for 10 years.
