The
Government are coming down hard on drink drivers, with new ideas for punishment
because the number of deaths caused by drink-driving has risen for the first time in
years. Carol Whittingham, of the Campaign Against Drink-Driving, said “We would
like to see a life-time
ban if a person is caught drink-driving twice. They are a danger to the public
and should not be allowed behind the wheel.” The Government may also get rid of the right to
have blood or urine tests and only use the road side breath test
because drivers can sober up just enough to pass the blood or urine tests.
