Paralympics Cyclist allegedly hit by Drink Driver
A van driver has been accused of knocking over Paralympics gold medallist Simon Richardson. 44-year-old Richardson was riding along the A48 near Bridgend when the road traffic accident is said to have occurred.
Edward Adams denies dangerous driving but admits drink driving and failing to stop. Jane Rowley, prosecuting, told Newport Crown Court that Mr Adams should not have been driving because he was over the legal drink-drive limit and has poor eyesight. The Jury was told that he could not read a licence plate from 4 metres away even with his glasses on.
